Images from Colonial Williamsburg

Our heavy travel schedule in the earlier part of the year prevented us from taking a few days off to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but that didn't stop us from exploring. We traveled to Colonial Williamsburg, VA hoping to spend the day in the old town. But temps near 90 degrees and a humidity level that surely matched quickly conquered us.

After visiting a few bookstores and sharing an anniversary dessert of Crème Brûlée at the Blue Talon Bistro, we walked around as long as we could, then headed home. But we managed to snap a few photos, of course. We'll return in cooler weather to explore more of what the Williamsburg area has to offer.

You gave us a beautiful walking tour! I have been there several times, but not recently - $36 per person seems steep - I hope that is a multiday pass.

It's a beautiful place, and I can't wait to go back when we can better appreciate it.

Surprisingly, that's the price for the one day pass, and it excludes a tour of the Governor's Palace. We had hoped to tour Williamsburg and nearby Jamestown Settlement, but with one costing $36 and the other, $14, we opted for lunch and a scoop of sherbert at Baskin Robbins!

I have not been to williamsburg since I was child, how horrible to charge so much-that prevents families from visiting-what a shame-off to check out your photos

Hi Kathy, and thanks. I hope you enjoyed the photos. It's a beautiful city, well worthy of a visit but yes, exploring the interiors is expensive.

I should clarify that the price is per adult (I'll change that.) The admission price for children ages 6-17 is half the adult price. But children 5 and under are free.

Still, for a couple with three children, if one is under five, the price is still $108.oo. That's a steep hit, and if the kids want to visit nearby Busch Gardens, the pocketbook suffers even more.
